The Transat 6.50, better known as the Mini Transat, is a solo transatlantic regatta for mini-class sailboats (maximum 6.50 meters), with no assistance or contact with land, held every two years. The XXIII edition already broke records before it even started, with the highest number of applications ever: 126 dossiers submitted and only 84 spots available. For this reason, the most highly prepared skippers were selected, with over 1,000 miles sailed solo and non-stop, and 1,500 miles in Mini 6.50 regattas.
The XXIII edition of the Mini Transat started in Les Sables d’Olonne, the same port from which Didac Costa completed his Vendée Globe.
The Mini Transat covers a total of over 4,000 nautical miles divided into two legs: the first leg from Les Sables d’Olonne to Santa Cruz de la Palma, in the Canary Islands; and the second leg continues westward to reach the Port of Saint François on the island of Guadeloupe, one of the Caribbean islands.
We highlight the sailors trained at Base Mini Barcelona, part of the FNOB (Barcelona Oceanic Sailing Foundation).
After going through a selection and evaluation process, these skippers have completed a full training program to develop and prepare a feasible sports project and arrive at the Mini Transat start with maximum guarantees.
At Hermanos Guasch, we support grassroots sailing, and on this occasion, we want to give visibility to the great work carried out by FNOB in promoting oceanic and offshore sailing and making it accessible to the public.
